Claims of 'persistent ongoing littering' at one County Kildare canal were highlighted at a recent Kildare County Council (KCC) meeting.

The matter was raised by Fianna Fáil Cllr Paul Ward at the latest Clane - Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, September 4 last.

According to Cllr Ward, the provision of a new bin would ‘help address the persistent ongoing littering’ in the region.

Cllr Ward also voiced the view that it would ‘support the efforts of local residents and Tidy Towns volunteers in maintaining this public space’.

However, in response to his motion, KCC told him: “There is currently insufficient funding and staffing resources available to provide and maintain additional bins in Kilcock.”
