County choices: when you use My county, your selected counties are saved in your browser on your device. NewsRoom.ie does not require an account for this feature and does not receive those choices as account data.

Administrator accounts: if you are authorised to manage news feeds, we process your email address, account identifier, sign-in information and assigned role so that we can provide and secure access.

Technical information: our hosting and security services may process routine request details such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps and diagnostic or security events. This information is used to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the website.

We process information where necessary to provide the service, protect its security, administer authorised accounts, diagnose faults, comply with legal obligations and pursue our legitimate interests in operating and improving a reliable local-news index. Stories link to independent publisher websites. Some pages may play audio directly from a publisher’s server.
