Man caught without insurance banned from driving | Meath Chronicle

Marius Macijauskas of Johnstown Road, Enfield, who was stated to have a significant drink problem for a while, received a four month suspended jail sentence.

He was also banned from driving for four years when he pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.

The 39 year-old was prosecuted in respect of driving on 17th September last year at Johnstown, Enfield.

He faced a second charge at Trim District Court for not having a driving licence, which was taken into consideration by Judge Eirinn McKiernan.

A third count in respect of drink driving was withdrawn by the state on account of a “fundamental flaw” in the charge, Sergeant Peter Clarke explained.

Sergeant Clarke outlined that the defendant had previous convictions for insurance offences, and in November last was banned from driving.

Defence barrister James O’Brien said the defendant was self employed with three children, and was seeking help for his problem.
