Caoimhin Treacy RESIDENTS and councillors are seeking an explanation from Uisce Éireann over water outrages in Newbridge over the last year. Kildare County Council agreed to write to the national water utility company regarding the matter.

Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer brought forward a motion at the most recent meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District recently proposing that the council writes to Uisce Éireann “asking for a detailed timeline of water outages and low-pressure incidents from June 2025 to date in Hillsborough, Newbridge”.

Meetings administrator Maria Richardson told the councillors that it was a matter for them to agree.

Cllr O’Dwyer told the meeting that residents have experienced “complete outages” on a regular basis over the last year, with the frequency of them “increasing without any explanation or forewarning”.

Cathaoirleach Noel Heavey indicated that there was enough agreement amongst the members for the letter to be written.
