He raised it in the form of a question that he submitted to Kildare County Council (KCC), which read as follows: “Following the recent call for Expressions of Interest regarding car parking in Kildare Town, has KCC progressed any discussions with landowners to secure additional parking?”
In response to his query, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Transport Department has received a positive response to the request for Expressions of Interest and are carrying out an initial assessment of the locations to determine the suitability of the locations for use as a carpark.

KCC also emphasised: “The members should note that any additional parking is likely to require a planning application or Part 8, and a further amendment to the parking bye-laws by statutory process and will not be included in the current parking bye-law process.
