A YOUNG man has been accused of possession of a slash hook in a Tullamore housing estate.

Daniel McDonagh (19), Ballinagar , Tullamore, appeared before Tullamore District Court after being charged with having a wooden handled sharply pointed bladed slash hook on July 10, 2026 at St Columba's Place, Tullamore.

Mr McDonagh indicated to the court his solicitor was Patrick Martin and Judge Andrew Cody ordered that full details of the allegation against the teenager be given to him.

Eighteen houses planned for site near rugby club in Offaly county town Judge Cody told the accused that he was putting the matter back to October 7 next for a plea.

“I want to know if you're pleading guilty,” remarked the judge, adding that if a plea of not guilty is being entered a hearing will take place on November 2.
