Dungloe-Glenties road ‘slumps in different parts, that's not acceptable’

A local councillor has highlighted that the N56 “slumps in parts” and is not up to the standard expected of a national road.

Independent Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig said he has been in regular contact with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) regarding the condition of the road between Dungloe and Glenties.

“I've been in regular contact with the TII in relation to the shape of this road that we as taxpayers have spent a fortune and we were so badly in need of it over many years,” Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig said. “The idea that we've spent the money all year to do the work and the road still isn't what it should be; it slumps in different parts, that's not acceptable.

“I will continue to push to get that right. How could that happen when there was so much money invested in it? Was it bad workmanship on behalf of the contractor? Was there not a proper oversight by the state?”
