Free summer bus service launched linking a number of towns and villages in Kilkenny and Carlow

There will be eight daily trips between Bagenalstown train station through Paulstown, Goresbridge, Skeoughvosteen, Graignamanagh and St Mullins

The Barrow Bus aims to connect national bus and train routes in a bid to attract tourists to the area while providing too for locals, with eight daily trips between Bagenalstown train station through Paulstown, Goresbridge, Skeoughvosteen, Graignamanagh and St Mullins, initially until September.

The action research project from Kilkenny LEADER Partnership in consultation with the local community, has just been unveiled at Barrow Valley Activities Hub in Graignamanagh.

Meanwhile, Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Mary Hilda Cavanagh said; “This is a wonderful opportunity to make the beautiful Barrow valley more accessible to people all over Kilkenny, Carlow and beyond. Walkers from near and far will now be able to explore the tranquil Barrow Way with a free bus service back to their starting point. This will make for fantastic day trips for families, friends and community groups, creating opportunities for local businesses along the way.

I am sure the many connecting bus and train routes will attract visitors from all over Ireland, and I would encourage visitors to Kilkenny City to extend their trip into the great outdoors here along the river.”
