A MAN who was caught driving while disqualified has been convicted in Limerick District Court .

Chris O’Riordan, 32, with an address at Ballinlea South, Dromin, Athlacca, Limerick, was stopped at a garda checkpoint at the Ballysimon Road on May 29, 2026.

The man was driving without a licence and was disqualified from driving at the time of the offence.

The court heard that Mr O’Riordan has a number of previous convictions, including two for driving without a licence, one for driving without insurance, four section four public order offences, three thefts, and two convictions for drink driving.

Solicitor Michael O’Donnell, representing Mr O’Riordan said: “I’d ask you to take into account the no licence matter and nothing else.”

“If I could say, he’s been remanded for a number of weeks, he’s been in custody since March,” Mr O’Donnell added.

Judge Patricia Harney replied: “He got out on early release and the first thing he did was to do something illegal.”

The judge proceeded to convict and sentence Mr O’Riordan to four months’ imprisonment for driving without a licence.

A cash bond of €250 was imposed, with the condition that Mr O’Riordan does not drive a mechanically propelled vehicle.
