A MAYO councillor has requested that commonage warning signs be erected.
A scheme has already been rolled out by Louth County Council, and Louisburgh-based Councillor Chris Maxwell has asked for one locally here.
The commonage warning signs make people aware that there may be livestock on the road, he explained at a municipal district meeting.
They might help motorists avoid accidents and would benefit farmers' grazing livestock, he said, asking that Mayo County Council would follow the lead of the Louth authority.
Councillor Maxwell did welcome the reappearance of wildfire warning signs, which have been erected again this summer.
