Concerns have been raised about administrative support for home care services in Inishowen, with warnings that care visits could be left uncovered if the issue is not addressed.

Buncrana Cllr Jack Murray said care assistants and relatives of people who rely on home support have raised concerns with him.

They say a properly resourced administrative system is needed to keep rotas running, deal with changes and make sure vital visits are covered.

"The worry being expressed to me is that, unless this is addressed urgently, it could begin to impact on the organisation of services and potentially lead to home care visits being cancelled or left uncovered," said Cllr Murray.

Cllr Murray is set to raise the issue with the HSE and seek assurances that the necessary administrative support will be put in place to protect home care services across Inishowen.

He said home support was vital in allowing older people, people who are ill and vulnerable people to remain safely in their own homes.

“It provides dignity and independence for the person receiving care, while also giving essential reassurance and support to their families,” he said.
