Donegal Civil Defence volunteers are ready to provide vital assistance to older and vulnerable residents struggling in the aftermath of Storm Boelo.
With power outages continuing across the county, Donegal County Council has confirmed that trained Civil Defence volunteers are available to help those most affected by the disruption.
The service is particularly keen to reach older people and vulnerable individuals who may need essential support, including assistance collecting vital medical supplies.
Anyone requiring essential assistance is encouraged to contact Donegal Civil Defence on 074 917 5665.
As of 6.30pm on Sunday 25th October, power has been restored to many areas of Donegal following Storm Boelo, although hundreds of customers are still facing further disruption.
ESB PowerCheck figures recorded this evening show approx 1,427 customers in the dark.
North Inishowen has the highest combined number in the latest listings, with 377 customers affected, followed by faults listed in Donegal (232), Buncrana (152), Ballyshannon (134) and Glenties (123).
The latest estimates indicate that 702 customers may remain without power into Monday, with some restoration times extending until 6pm. See individual fault updates here: https://powercheck.esbnetworks.ie/
Members of the public are also being urged to check on older neighbours, people living alone and vulnerable individuals who may be struggling without electricity.
"Donegal Civil Defence is committed to supporting local communities and helping those who may be experiencing difficulties as a result of the ongoing disruption," a council spokesperson said.
