The government is being urged to include measures to help people with the soaring cost of fuel prices in next week's budget.
Recent increases in the cost of petrol and diesel have resulted in many motorists now paying over 150 euro to fill their tank.
The conflict in the Middle East and its' impact on the global energy market is being blamed for the spike in energy prices, with people paying an average of 45 cent more for a litre of diesel and 30 cent more for a litre of petrol than they were 7 months ago.
There are concerns that if the government doesn't take action to bring down the cost of fuel, protestors could seek to blockade roads in a repeat of last April's nationwide demonstrations.
A public meeting in Moate, County Westmeath was held last weekend, with hauliers and farmers threatening action unless the government abolish the carbon tax.
Padraig Corrigan visited service stations in Tyholland County Monaghan and Middletown County Armagh to find out what people on both sides of the border think should be done to bring down fuel prices.
