Kildare County Council added that maintenance works will be carried out in the area if deemed necessary

Kildare County Council (KCC) has revealed that a body of water is due for inspection later this month.

The information was heard at the latest Clane - Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, September 4 last, and was given in response to a query from Fine Gael councillor Brendan Wyse.

Cllr Wyse’s question read as follows: “Can KCC provide a timeline for the expected completion of the flood prevention measures due to be undertaken on the drains from Derrymullen to the Slate River this year?”

“The areas upstream of this, including Derrymullen will be inspected and scheduled for maintenance in September if required.”

KCC concluded by emphasising: “Works are prioritised based on risk of flooding to properties and are dependent on approval from landowners, ecological and health and safety assessments.”
