THE trial of a man on indecent assault charges which was scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, April 23) will instead begin on Friday.

The accused man, now 64, has pleaded not guilty to 25 counts of indecent assault more than 40 years ago.

The alleged victim, now 50, was six when the alleged offending began in 1982 and charges before Tullamore Circuit Court accuse the man of continuing the abuse for two years.

The trial was fixed for Thursday after a jury of eight men and four women was sworn in but today (Wednesday, April 22) by agreement of the prosecution and defence, it will open on Friday.
