Judge Kevin Staunton issued an alibi warning to the accused pending a trial at Waterford Circuit Court

Caroline Spencer The case of a man accused of robbing a petrol station has been sent forward for trial.

Aaron Butler (35) of 6A Barnes Lane, The Glen, Waterford city, is accused of robbing Circle K petrol station on Military Road on June 7, 2026, where he allegedly entered the premises armed with a knife and demanding money.

CCTV recovered by Gardaí revealed a male figure wearing a mask and entering a private residence shortly after the robbery. When Gardai went to investigate the property, they found a knife and burnt scraps of clothing.

On Tuesday, September 15, Judge Kevin Staunton issued an alibi warning to the accused pending a trial at Waterford Circuit Court. Solicitor Ken Cunningham made an application for the services of a junior counsel. The matter will be re-visited on October 6 in the Circuit Court.
