Portlaoise Court: Man (44) is sent forward for trial on Child Porn charge - Courts - Laois Nationalist

The was served with a book of evidence at Portlaoise District Court this week.
A 44-YEAR-OLD man was sent forward for trial to the present sitting of Portlaoise Circuit Criminal Court on three counts of child pornography.
The man, who cannot be named by order of the court, was served with a book of evidence at Portlaoise District Court this week.
He is charged that on 24 January 2025, he distributed child pornography from his address and that on two occasions on 22 February 2025 he was in possession of child pornography, photograph stills and videos, again at his address.
Defence solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said that she could not assist her client under the free legal aid scheme as she had previously done due to the ongoing dispute between the Department of Justice and solicitors.
Judge Andrew Cody sent the accused forward to the present sitting of Portlaoise Circuit Criminal Court and gave him an alibi warning that he must notify gardaí in writing within 14 days if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence.
