As the weather gets wetter and colder, motorists are reminded to be aware of road conditions before getting behind the wheel. More preparation is needed, as well as an increased stopping distance between vehicles, especially when the road is wet or icy.

The Road Safety Authority advises motorists to postpone non-essential journeys during severe weather warnings. In this feature, David Martin from the RSA outlines the necessary precautions.

This road safety programme is made with the support of the IBI and the Sound and Vision scheme, a Coimisiún na Meán initiative funded by the television licence fee.
