Caoimhin Treacy THERE were 91 families were living in accommodation provided through Kildare’s homeless services according to the most recent published figures

Of these, 76 families were living in private emergency accommodation including supported temporary accommodation and family hubs, whilst a further 15 families were in “own front door” accommodation.

23 of the 76 families in private emergency accommodation had been there for a year or longer, whilst 38 had been there for six months or less.

These figures were published in Kildare County Council’s Chief Executive’s Report for June.

The number of families in accommodation provided by the homeless services broadly stabilised in late spring after rising in the winter and early spring months.

There were 94 families in accommodation provided by homeless services in Kildare in March, a 22% increase on the 77 families in such accommodation in November 2025.

That figure fell from 94 to 87 between the end of March and the end of April, but May’s total of 91 families represented a month-on-month increase.
