Níos mó ná €36m breise curtha ar fáil don Ghaeltacht is Gaeilge i mBuiséad 2026 ag an Rialtas

Beidh muintir TG4 sásta go maith leis an méadu €5.4m ar an méid a fuair siad ón mBuiséad, an dara ardú is mó riamh.

An account is an optional way to support the work we do. Find out more.

Fógraíodh méadú suntasach sa bhreis ar €50m ar mhaoiniú do Roinn na Gaeltachta le linn óráid Bhuiséid 2026 ag an Aire Caiteachais Phoiblí agus Athchóirithe, Jack Chambers, i dTeach Laighean níos luaithe tráthnóna.

De réir óráid an Aire Chambers, cuirfear €158.9m ar fáil do Roinn na Gaeltachta i 2026, suas ó €106.9m ón méid a fógraíodh don nGaeltacht ar Lá an Bhuiséid anuraidh. Bhí allúntas €17m dos na hoileáin anuraidh, rud a fhágann gur méadú de €36m atá i gceist don nGaeltacht agus don nGaeilge.

Ina theannta sin, cuirfear €65.4m ar fáil do TG4 chun, mar a mhínigh an tAire Chambers, “ábhar Gaeilge ardchaighdeáin, cláir do pháistí agus seirbhísí nuachta níos leithne a chinntiú”.

An tseachtain seo caite, ag labhairt sa Dáil, gheall Niamh Smyth TD, comhghleacaí leis an Aire Gaeltachta, Dara Calleary, go mbeadh sé ag briseadh síos na ndoirse chun maoiniú breise a fháil don Ghaeilge agus don Ghaeltacht.

Sa mhéid is gur fógraíodh méadú de €52.1m ar an leithdháileadh do Roinn na Gaeltachta, is léir gur éirigh le ruathar an Aire Calleary. Má chuirtear san áireamh an €5.4m breise do TG4, a thagann ó leithdháileadh na Roinne Cumarsáide, is mó é ná an buiséad malartach a mhol gach páirtí sa fhreasúra – seachas Sinn Féin.

I mbuiséad malartach Shinn Féin, mhol an páirtí €73.6m breise a infheistiú sa Ghaeltacht agus sa Ghaeilge. Mhol Páirtí an Lucht Oibre ina ndoiciméad €43m breise, is é an méid a luaigh Pobal Roimh Bhrabús ná €55m breise agus tá na Daonlathach Sóisialacha ag moladh €35m breise.

Is cinnte go bhfuil sé níos éasca do pháirtithe an fhreasúra méaduithe móra a mholadh – ní hiad siúd a dhéanann na cinntí. Ach léiríonn sé toradh dearfach ar fheachtasaíocht agus ar achainíocha Chonradh na Gaeilge go bhfuil gach páirtí sa fhreasúra ar aon intinn go bhfuil gá le hinfheistíocht shuntasach sa bhreis ar leithdháiltí sna blianta go dtí seo.

Chuir Ard Stiúrthóir TG4, Deirdre Ní Choistín, fáilte roimh an ardú ar mhaoiniú TG4 agus é ráite i ráiteas ón gcraoltóir gurb é €5.4m an dara hardú is mó riamh.

Chuir Ard Stiurthóir TG4, Deirdre Ní Choistín, fáilte roimh an 'dara ardú is mó riamh' a fograíodh don staisiún. TG4 TG4

“Tá TG4 ag dul ó neart go neart le hinfheistíocht chéimithe ón Rialtas le tamall de bhlianta,” arsa Ní Choistín.

Léiríonn an infheistíocht seo, agus muid nach mór tríocha bliain ar aer, an mhuinín atá ag an Aire sa luach atá le TG4 mar mheán seirbhíse poiblí na Gaeilge, agus an tábhacht atá leis an obair a dhéanaimid don teanga agus do phobal na Gaeilge ar fud an domhain.”

Tuigtear go bhfuil ardú sa bhreis ar €2m d’Údarás na Gaeltachta agus €2m geallta don Fhoras Teanga. Tá Foras na Gaeilge mar chuid den Fhoras Teanga ach ní bheidh aon chuid den €2m ar fáil mura dtoilíonn an Feidhmeannas ó thuaidh.

Bhí an easpa maoinithe don Ghaeilge agus don Ghaeltacht ina théama láidir ag an agóid cearta le déanaí i mBaile Átha Cliath. Luaigh cainteoirí éagsúla an easpa tacaíochta don Ghaeilge thar na mblianta.

Mar a mhínigh Conradh na Gaeilge san aighneacht réamh bhuiséad a sheol siad chuig an Rialtas roimh fhoilsiú an bhuiséid:

“Ní raibh uaillmhian ná tosaíocht sásúil déanta den Ghaeilge agus den Ghaeltacht i gcaiteachas an Stáit thuaidh nó theas riamh.

“Léirítear seo leis an bhfíric nach raibh ach 0.15% de chaiteachas iomlán an Stáit ó dheas i 1956 á chaitheamh ar an nGaeilge agus ar an nGaeltacht, agus sna blianta roimh 2025 tá an caiteachas sin tite go 0.10% i Roinn na Gaeltachta.”

De réir meastachán Chonradh na Gaeilge, áfach, is ardú €28m sa bhreis atá á fháil ag an nGaeilge agus ag an nGaeltacht nuair a bhaintear airgead do thograí atá geallta cheana féin as an áireamh.
