Council Backs Calls For Sexual Assault Treatment Unit - News % Clare FM

It’s claimed Clare sexual assault and rape survivors are facing additional barriers to justice due to a lack of adequate facilities in the region.

There are currently six sexual assault treatment units nationwide, but none serving the MidWest, with the closest in Galway.

Although a forensic medical examination service is available in Limerick, unlike the others, it can only be accessed via Garda referral.

Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard says this has to change.

And you can hear more on this on Clare FM’s Morning Focus this Tuesday morning from 9am.
