A man involved in a road traffic collision in Ballybofey has been banned from driving after being found to have been driving without insurance.
Letterkenny District Court heard that Mark Watton was involved in a two-vehicle collision on November 1, 2025 at a junction with the Donegal Road.
Garda Wayne Keown told the court that Watton, aged 52 and of Heathlodge Avenue, Belfast, identified himself as the driver of one of the vehicles.
Garda Keown said that during the course of his enquiries he made a lawful demand for Watton to produce his documents.
The driver did not have them in the car and elected to produce them at Dundalk Garda Station.
However, he failed to produce the documents. Garda Keown added that he conducted enquiries with the PSNI and established that the vehicle was registered and owned by Watton’s wife and he was not insured.
Watton was charged with driving without insurance, driving without a licence and also with failing to produce his licence and failing to produce his insurance.
Watton was not present in court and had no legal representation when his case was called.
Judge Emile Daly found the facts proven. For driving without insurance, Watton was disqualified from driving for two years and fined €420. Watton was fined €200 for driving without a licence with the failure to produce charges marked as taken into consideration.
