During the early stages of the meeting, Cllr O’Dwyer motioned for KCC to reinstate the walkway lighting in the Pairc Mhuire estate in Newbridge.

According to Cllr O’Dwyer, this ‘was originally part of this development’.

Her motion was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer.

Replying to Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer’s motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Public Lighting Section has assessed the request to reinstate the walkway lighting at Pairc Mhuire.

“A design for high level lighting and a substantial quotation has been received from our contractor for the required works.”

KCC concluded: “We are assessing the potential impacts of the higher lighting, prior to progressing the works.”

Furthermore, a representative for KCC told Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer that KCC is willing to discuss the matter further.

They also stressed to her: “We have a design and costing [ready]; we just want to make sure that we are not [accidentally] making another problem.”
