A Cavan woman says she feels afraid in her own home over an going situation of anti-social behaviour in front of her Cavan Town home.

Fiona Jermyn says the ongoing issue is also affecting other residents of Laragh Crescent in Cavan Town, regarding anti-social behaviour and the condition of an area of land directly in front of her home.

Fiona says for some time now, residents have been dealing with serious issues in this area, including suspected drug dealing, rough sleepers, needles being found, and human faeces being left behind the trees in front of her home.

She says this is not only extremely distressing and unpleasant, but is also a serious concern in terms of the health, safety and wellbeing of residents living here.

The local woman says the situation has become particularly frightening as she recently became a widow and now lives alone.

Fiona has lived in the house for 30 years and says the anti-social behaviour is taking place directly in front of her home, with the trees providing concealment and cover immediately outside my property.

She says she should not have to feel afraid in her own home, adding that she is not able between Monday and Friday night due to people gathering in the area until the early hours of the morning.

Speaking to Northern Sound, she says she is very concerned about the wider impact on the safety and wellbeing of the community.

The discovery of needles and human faeces in an area immediately beside people's homes is particularly concerning for the local residents.

Fiona says there's one solution, the trees need to go. Ronan called to meet Fiona in her home to find out more.
