A local councillor has told Kildare County Council (KCC) that ongoing parking issues have been affecting residents in two County Kildare areas.

Social Democrats Cllr Paula Mulroe highlighted the matter at the latest Clane - Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, September 4 last.

Cllr Paula Mulroe (Social Democrats) | FILE PHOTOGRAPH In response to her question, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Transport Department is not aware of the specific nature of the parking disputes referred to in this question.

“As the estate has not been taken in charge by KCC, it has no role in intervening in disputes between residents regarding parking arrangements within the development.

“It is possible that the concerns raised relate to parking associated with the nearby school; however, no specific details have been provided to the council in relation to the locations, times, or nature of the issues being experienced.”

KCC continued: “Parking on public roads is subject to the provisions of the Road Traffic Acts and any relevant traffic regulations in place; should residents consider that additional parking provision or changes to the existing parking layout within the development are required, these matters should be raised with the developer, management company, or other party responsible for the development's management and maintenance, as appropriate.

“If specific concerns relating to road safety, traffic management, or parking on public roads are brought to KCC's attention, they can be examined and assessed by the Municipal District Office.”

KCC concluded: “Any potential measures would be subject to the council's statutory powers, technical assessment, and the availability of funding and resources.”
