A man arrested near Milford on Monday for driving without insurance or a licence has been warned not to drive a vehicle.

Michael Davey was brought before Letterkenny District Court on Monday.

A 59-year-old, with an address at Drumnacarry, Creeslough and also with an address in Castlewellan, Co Down, he was granted bail.

Garda Mark Gannon gave evidence of arresting Davey at 10.38am at Portleen, Milford. Garda Gannon told the court that Davey admitted to having no licence and no insurance.

When charged and cautioned, Davey made no reply, the court heard.

He was charged with driving without a driving licence, contrary to section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961. He was also charged with driving without insurance, contrary to section 56 of the same Act.

Judge Emile Daly granted bail on condition that Davey stops driving. The accused man accepted that when asked by Judge Daly.

The matter was adjourned to October for Davey to either plead guilty or seek a hearing date.
