KCC reveals when works are expected to start on old convent building

The announcement was welcomed by a local representative

Kildare County Council (KCC) has revealed when redevelopment works are expected to start on a former convent building.

The information was provided to a councillor at the latest Kildare -Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, May 20 last.

Near the end of this meeting, Fianna Fáil Cllr Brian O’Loughlin asked KCC if it could provide a commencement date for the redevelopment of St John’s Convent in Rathangan.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Brian O'Loughlin | PHOTO CREDIT: KILDARECOCO.IE In response to his query, KCC had this to say: “Clúid [which is a housing authority] has advised KCC that the contractor expects to commence construction in mid-June.”

Cllr O’Loughlin told a representative for KCC (who was also present at the meeting) that he welcomed the news.

He also asked the rep if they were aware of an estimated completion date.
