PODCAST: Keshcarrigan remembers Fr Mychal 25 years on from 9/11 | Shannonside.ie

The horrific events of September 11th, 2001 in New York City leaves a lasting legacy in one Leitrim village 25 years on.

Each year, the community in Keshcarrigan comes together to remember all those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center, including one of their own, Fr Mychal Judge.

Fr Mychal, whose father hailed from the village, died when the South Tower collapsed after two hijacked airliners were flown into the two tallest buildings in the city.

He was serving as Chaplain to the New York City Fire Department and was the first official casualty of the terror attacks.

Dan Dooner visited Keshcarrigan and spoke with Patrick McGreevey and John Keaney ahead of this year's 25th anniversary event.
