Cyclists are among the most vulnerable road users. The size of bicycles and their lack of physical shielding make cyclists easy to overlook by other motorists or miss in blind spots.
According to the Road Safety Authority, 1,324 cyclists were seriously injured on our roads between 2021 and 2025, with almost two in three cyclists killed in a collision with another vehicle. David Martin from the RSA outlines the shared responsibilities both cyclists and motorists have when out on the road.
This road safety programme is made with the support of the IBI and the Sound and Vision scheme, a Coimisiún na Meán initiative funded by the television licence fee.
