Date confirmed for construction to commence at Cleary Centre in Donegal Town

Construction on the Cleary Centre in Donegal Town will commence in Q3/Q4 of 2026.

The confirmation came at the HSE Regional Health Forum West, after Fianna Fáil Cllr Micheál Naughton requested an update on the project.

Derek Monaghan, Integrated Health Area Manager, Donegal, responded that it is anticipated that the tender to appoint a suitable contractor will be issued to the market in Q3 2026, subject to the granting of approvals in line with HSE and Infrastructural Guideline protocols.

The plans are to transform the centre into a place for adults with intellectual disabilities, featuring four large multipurpose rooms with a secure outdoor area, a physio room, a regulation room, and a training kitchen.

A laundry room and a large dining area are also planned and outdoors, there will be recreational spaces and a greenhouse.
