A Lifford man was remanded in custody after pleading guilty at Letterkenny Circuit Court to charges of indecent assault in the late seventies and early eighties.

Manus Quinn, with an address at Ballyduff Terrace, was charged with the offences against a male person.

Five separate charges were put to the accused during the arraignment before Judge John Aylmer.

The respective offences were alleged to have occurred between February 17, 1978 and April 1, 1982. All involved a male person.

Representing the accused, Mr Eugene Grant, KC, sought a Probation Report for his client with Judge Aylmer agreeing with a view to determining the accused’s suitability for community service.

Pointing to the “strain on the Probation Services”, the judge adjourned the matter to the October sessions of the Circuit Court.

Mr Grant then suggested a psychologist report might be of benefit also. Judge Aylmer agreed to the subsequent request.
