Ground broken on new $700 Million energy facility in Dundalk that will create 200 new jobs

Louth County Council has welcomed the announcement by Hanley Energy of a landmark investment of up to $700 million by Equinix to develop a new 150,000 sq. ft. advanced manufacturing facility in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

The project will create an initial 200 high‑skilled jobs, with recruitment already underway for an initial 200 engineers and technicians. The new facility will accelerate the delivery of next‑generation power systems for global data centres and strengthen critical international supply chains.

Following the groundbreaking event for the new facility, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Cllr Seán Kelly, said:

“This is a proud day for Louth. Today’s announcement is a strong endorsement of our county’s ambition, capability, and talent. The scale of this investment and the creation of so many high‑quality jobs represent a major vote of confidence in Dundalk and in our local workforce. I warmly congratulate Hanley Energy and Equinix on this transformative development and look forward to the positive impact it will bring to our communities for many years to come.”

David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, added:

“This strategic investment by Equinix and Hanley Energy highlights Louth’s growing role in supporting global digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. It reflects the strength of our local skills base and the county’s capacity to enable innovation at scale. The new facility, located in Dundalk, will serve as a global hub for manufacturing specialized power equipment essential for Equinix’s high performance data centres and AI-driven workloads. The deal covers an initial 5-year period, extendable to 10 years, with a minimum of USD $70 million from Equinix annually, underscoring it said, its long-term commitment to Ireland and the country’s role in Equinix’s global operations.
