Water outages and low-pressure incidents highlighted at KCC meeting

Repeated water outages and low-pressure incidents were raised at a recent Kildare County Council (KCC) meeting.

The dilemma was highlighted by Fine Gael councillor Tracey O’Dwyer at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Wednesday, June 17 last.

At around the halfway point of the meeting, she motioned for KCC to write to Uisce Éireann ‘asking for a detailed timeline of water outages and low-pressure incidents from June 2025 to date’ in Hillsborough, which is a region located near Newbridge and Kilcullen.

Her motion was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer.

Speaking further on her motion, Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer said that the region has been ‘experiencing issues for the past year’.

“The frequency [of outages and low-pressure incidents] seems to be increasing too,” she added.

Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer also told KCC that on one particular date, two water pipes in the area had burst.

“Residents just want an explanation [from Uisce Éireann],” she emphasised to KCC.

After the matter was put to a brief discussion, it was agreed upon by the MD’s members that KCC would write to Uisce Éireann on Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer’s behalf.
