Speaking at Kilkenny Castle, he marked Kilkenny as the first county fully connected under the National Broadband Plan, with a €72 million investment reaching around 19,000 premises.

He described the rollout as transformative for rural Ireland, supporting remote work and regional growth, and said remaining connections will transfer over time, with neighbouring Carlow to follow at a later stage.
