Approximately 100 properties affected by burst water mains in west Donegal

Two mains have burst, which is affecting the water supply in west Donegal .

The separate bursts are both on the Na Rossan Regional Water Supply, on a trunk main from the Chroithlí Water Treatment Plant, and a burst has occurred on a main at Mín an Iolair, which is impacting supply to the Gaoth Dobhair area. These bursts are impacting approximately 50 properties each in the area.

Uisce Éireann crews are on site at both locations and have commenced their efforts to isolate and repair the burst mains, which are estimated to continue until 4pm this afternoon.

“Our crews have mobilised to the sites of these two bursts this morning and are working to restore supply to impacted customers,” Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said. “We acknowledge the frustration caused by unplanned supply disruptions for our customers, and we wish to thank those impacted for their understanding as we work to repair the mains and restore supply.”

Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
