A Donegal man charged with seriously assaulting a woman has appeared in court.
The man, who is in his 40s and cannot be named for legal reasons, was brought before a sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
In granting him bail, Judge Emile Daly warned him to have no contact with the woman.
“No contact means not a wave across the street, eye contact - nothing,” Judge Daly said.
He has been charged with assaulting the woman and causing her harm. The charge is contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
Evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of the man was given to the court by way of schedule by Garda Sergeant Jim Collins
The man must provide An Garda Síochána with an address at which he will reside within 48 hours. He was ordered to sign on at a Garda station once a week and to have no contact with the alleged injured party or any witnesses.
Man remanded in custody after incident at council building - just hours after getting bail

Judge Daly ordered the man to stay alcohol and drug free and not to attend a specified address.
The man was told to get a referral for a psychiatric assessment and to take medication as prescribed.
Judge Daly asked the man if he understood the conditions and he said he did.
