Call for derelict houses in Kildare to be painted

Fianna Fáil councillor Brian O’Loughlin made the request at the latest Kildare -Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, September 16 last.

Towards the conclusion of the meeting, Cllr O’Loughlin motioned for KCC ‘to paint the four derelict houses that were recently served with a CPO in Rathangan ’ (A CPO refers to the legal process where a statutory body, such as KCC, can take land or property without needing the owner's consent for the benefit of the community).

In response, KCC said to Cllr O’Loughlin via the report it submitted at the meeting: “The Town Regeneration Team intends to paint the recently acquired derelict houses in Rathangan.”

“We are currently trying to identify a budget for the works,” KCC added.

Speaking further on the matter, Cllr O’Loughlin told KCC that while he acknowledged that KCC ‘only got the houses this year’, he nevertheless re-emphasised his call to have KCC paint them in the near future.
