By Staff reporter · Meath Chronicle · 2 June 2026

A 64-year-old man was fined €150 for damaging a neighbour’s fence. Joseph O’Mahony of Woodview Court, Navan was charged with criminal damage arising from the incident on May 4 at Woodview Court.

The defendant appeared on Tuesday before Trim District Court which heard that he was seen hitting the fence with a hammer, smashing a panel.

Court Presenter Sergeant Alan Radcliffe told that the defendant had two previous convictions, one for murder in 1982 and another for public disorder.

Solicitor Maurice Regan said the defendant lost his partner in January and lapsed into depression. The defendant wished to apologize. He was not able to pick up the €50 for the damage.
