A MAN who allegedly caused a disturbance in the A&E department of Portlaoise hospital was brought before a special sitting of the local district court on Monday 1 June.
John Egan (45), Lyster Square, Portlaoise was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and to engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour at the hospital the previous night on 31 May.
Garda Hogan said that when arrested, charged and cautioned with the offences, Mr Egan replied: “Shut the f**k up.”
Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Egan on continuing bail to the 4 June sitting of the court.
