Man admits having drugs worth €18,000 in Offaly

Accused on bail awaiting sentencing after entering guilty plea

Claude Glynn (49), Adams Villas, Tullamore, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis valued at €13,000 or more for sale or supply to others at his address on June 15 last year when he appeared before Judge Ronan Munro on Tuesday (April 14).

After Mr Glynn was arraigned and entered his guilty plea, Marc Thompson Grolimund, SC, defending, said the value of the drugs was €18,000 and asked the court to order a probation report.

He said Mr Glynn had significant mental health issue and the probation service could deal with the assessment of his reoffending risk.

Mr Thompson Grolimund said Mr Glynn had previous convictions but they were for road traffic offences and a lesser drugs possession offence.

Judge Munro remanded Mr Glynn on continuing bail to appear before him again on May 8 next for sentencing.
