Laois man failed to pay fine - News - Laois Nationalist

A MAN who received a fixed charge penalty notice (FCPN) for speeding failed to avail of the option to pay the fine.

As a result, the matter proceeded to Portlaoise District Court last week on a summons, where he was fined and received additional penalty points.

Ryan Ghaffar (20), Gort na nÓir, Abbeyleix pleaded guilty to driving at a speed of 119km in a 100km/ph zone at Colt on 29 November 2025.

Defending solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said that her client, who works as an apprentice electrician, “didn’t take the opportunity to pay the FCPN and now has additional penalty points.” Judge Edward Carroll convicted Mr Ghaffar of the offence and fined him €300.
