Communities in Ballymahon and surrounding areas are set to benefit from a more reliable water supply following the completion of upgrade works on the local network along the N55.

The works, delivered by Uisce Éireann as part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme, involved the upgrade of more than 5km of watermains between Carrickedmond Church and Ballymahon Mart .

The project is aimed at reducing leakage, lowering the risk of bursts, and improving the reliability of the water network for homes and businesses in the area.

Speaking on completion of the works, Dave Murphy, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann’s Leakage Reduction Programme, said the upgrade represents an important investment in local infrastructure.

“By upgrading sections of ageing watermains along the N55, we are strengthening the network and reducing the risk of disruption for local homes and businesses,” he said.

The works were carried out by Ward and Burke Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann , in partnership with Longford County Council.
