Lyons welcomes replacement bus shelter for Kingston Road

Galway City West and Knocknacarra Councillor Donal Lyons has this week welcomed works now under way on a replacement bus shelter on Kingston Road.
"The existing bus stop and bus shelter were destroyed by Storm Éowyn in January 2025," Cllr Lyons said. "Since then, I have been making ongoing representations to Galway City Council Active Travel Department for the reinstallation of the bus stop and bus shelter.
"I have raised the issue of replacing the bus shelter both at plenary meetings of Galway City Council and West Councillor Area meetings. Earlier this year, the bus stop was reinstalled.
"However, there was a delay in having the bus shelter reinstalled as a new contractor was being appointed nationally for the installation of bus shelters, and this seriously delayed the reinstallation.
"I want to thank the engineers and staff at the Active Travel Department and the Roads Department, Galway City Council for their help in addressing my representations," he added. "I have no doubt that the reinstatement of the bus shelter will be widely welcomed."
