A man has appeared in court charged with duping another man in Letterkenny to make a payment for an item which was not handed over.

Keelan Walker was brought before Letterkenny District Court.

Walker, a 32-year-old with an address at Arklow, Co Wicklow, was charged in relation to an incident in March 2023.

Walker was charged that he did dishonestly by deception induce a man to sent money to a Revolut account to pay for an item which Walker to not send to him with the intention of making a gain for himself.

The charge is contrary to section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.

Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that Walker is on remand in prison on other matters.

Walker was not represented by a solicitor at the brief appearance before Judge Emile Daly.

The case was adjourned to November when Walker will have to either plead guilty or seek a hearing date to contest the charge.
