East Donegal alleged child sex offender before court
AN EAST Donegal man in his forties who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, has appeared before Letterkenny District Court charged with four sexual offences involving a child.
The man faces charges of causing a young person under 17 to watch sexual activity, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, grooming a child under 15 to engage in sexual touching, and sexually assaulting the same child.
Garda detective Barrett gave evidence of arresting the man and that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that the matters be sent to Letterkenny Circuit Court.
The court heard that the defendant made no reply to the charges presented. Solicitor Patsy Gallagher appeared on behalf of the accused.
Bail was granted to the alleged sex offender. The terms of bail included that the man provide a bail address, mobile phone number which he is contactable on at all times to Gardaí, and not to with interfere with the alleged injured party or any witnesses in the case.
The matter was adjourned until September 14, when the book of evidence is to be served on the defendant.
