By Reporter · Westmeath Examiner · 28 January 2026

A former boxer has pleaded guilty to stabbing a female relative in May 2024.

Mary Nevin (24), with an address on Austin Friar Street, Mullingar, appeared before Judge Keenan Johnson at Mullingar Circuit Court, where she entered a guilty plea to assault causing serious harm to another woman on May 3, 2024.

The mother-of-two, who has no previous convictions, was remanded on continuing bail on the strict conditions that she sign on daily, surrender her passport, and have no direct or indirect contact with the victim.

She was also ordered to refrain from using any social media.

Ms Nevin will reappear in May when psychological and probation reports are expected to be furnished to the court.
