Speed ramps sought for road at rear of Mayo estate - news - Western People
Joan Geraghty A request for Mayo County Council to consider putting speed ramps on the rear road in Woodview Court estate in Killala was submitted by Cllr Jarlath Munnelly to the June meeting of Ballina Municipal District.
Cllr Munnelly told council management that the road is being used quite a bit.
“The road there is not very wide and a lot of cars are going in and out, particularly at nighttime. It’s a back residential road so I don’t see why there would be a problem putting some ramps in.”
Cllr Annie May Reape seconded the motion with Cllr Marie Therese Duffy also supporting it, saying: “Ramps are the only thing that will physically sort out the cars.”
Respoding to the points made, executive engineer Vincent O’Boyle said the existing speed limit on the LT 21075 in Woodview Court estate, Killala, is 30km/h, adding that the council will conduct a speed survey on the road section to the rear to assess the actual speed of vehicles.
