Ate chicken sandwich in store | Nenagh Guardian

By Court reporter · The Nenagh Guardian · 13 June 2026

A woman was convicted at Nenagh District Court for the theft of a chicken sandwich in Tesco.

The court heard how Mary Richardson (39) of Ballygraigue Court, Nenagh, entered Tesco along the Borrisokane Road in Nenagh on June 12 last year and picked up a chicken sandwich in store. Ms Richardson ate the sandwich while in store and left without paying for it.

Her solicitor, Elizabeth McKeever told the court that Ms Richardson understands that it was a “foolish thing to do” and brought €4 with her to court as compensation.

Judge Marie Keane directed for the €4 in compensation to be paid to the injured party and convicted Ms Richardson of theft. She was fined €100 with four months to pay.
