Road and pedestrian improvements under way | Nenagh Guardian

Project will take four months to complete.

Tipp TD, Michael Lowry, has welcomed the recent commencement of road and pedestrian improvements from the Technical University at Castle Meadows to the Bohernanave junction.

He said: "This will be of great benefit to the university, to Scoil Mhuire, to Teagasc, Semple Stadium, and the Greyhound track. There is a large volume of students and pedestrians concentrated in and using this area. There is chaos there each day between 2 and 4pm in particular. It is currently dangerous, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists.

"This work will be funded by the National Transport Authority, and it includes a new bus set-down area for Coláiste Mhuire, new cycle paths, footpath replacements, upgrading pedestrian crossings, improved drainage signage, and road markings. It will also incorporate traffic calming measures.

"These necessary and essential works will address health and safety issues. It will inevitably cause disruption and inconvenience. The project will take four months to complete.

I have had discussions with the Rathcabbin contractors who have been appointed to carry out the works, and they have assured me that they will do everything that is possible to minimise the impact on road users during that period of time."
