A female motorist who drove into a parked car outside a garda station has been fined and disqualified from driving.
Tania Mendes Ferreira, of Cois Abhainn, Station Road, Foxford, failed to appear before Ballina District Court to answer a charge of driving without insurance.
Garda Helen Cusack told the court she was on duty in Ballina Garda Station on March 19, 2026 when she heard a loud noise outside.
Ferreira’s vehicle had struck a parked car but the defendant's was the only vehicle that sustained damage.
She failed to produce insurance for the period in which the collision occurred.
The court heard she had no previous convictions at the time of the offence but picked up a drink-driving conviction in the interim.
Judge Vincent Deane imposed a two-year driving ban and fined the defendant €300.
